Cycling Together
For over 25 years, Kristin and Steve have been cycling together – keeping things rolling over roads and trails as they also navigated marriage, kids, and careers.
Now, we are inviting you to join the ride as we share our experiences, insight and advice for anyone who does, or wants to, ride a bike.
Meet Steve and Kristin
Partners both on and off the bicycle, Steve and Kristin co-own Steve the Bike Guy, an independent, family-owned bicycle Shop in metrowest Massachuetts.
Having started road racing with the United States Cycling Federation in 1988 and later moved to mountain bike racing with the National Off-Road Bicycle Association in the mid-1990s (organizations now known as USA Cycling). A bad crash while racing for UMass Amherst pushed him into mountain biking and the exploding race scene at the time. Steve transitioned to a career as a full-time bicycle mechanic in 2011. Certified as a Category 4 Race Mechanic by USA Cycling, he brings his passion, expertise and practical experience to each bike he works on, and rider he works with. He holds additional mechanical certificates from Park Tool, Shimano, and SRAM.
An “adult-onset” amateur athlete, Kristin is passionate about encouraging more women and girls to ride bikes. In addition to leading the STBG Cycling Team, she also raises money for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through the Pan-Mass Challenge. A professional communicator and owner of Sundin Marketing, a full-service marketing communications agency, Kristin provides strategic marketing support to the Bike Guy, allowing her to combine her professional experiences with her love of cycling.
Together, Steve and Kristin are parents to two college age children and are adjusting to the “new normal” – empty nesting and traveling in their converted Sprinter van.
