NEMBA Sherborn XC Scramble – Tuesdays at 6pm

Steve the Bike Guy has partnered with the Blackstone Valley Chapter of the New England Mountain Bike Association (NEMBA) to lead a swift MTB ride through Sherborn in May and June.

The course will vary from week to week with distances between 8-15 miles or up to 2 hours. This generally means averaging 6 to 7 mph including time for stops. The trails consist of fast single and double-track with moderate climbs (and a few short hard climbs in some cases). The terrain may be intermediate but the ride pace will be swift as we do our best to make hay before the sun sets and put in some miles. Long June days will allow more flexibility. A few of the planned routes will have limited road transfers between trails.

For those with a Garmin or other ride tracking device, we will be providing a route link ahead of time through Facebook event pages. Please know Sherborn is a big equestrian town so in the event we encounter riders, we will stop and lay bikes down for horses to pass. Young horses are often being trained on the trails and can spook easily.

The STBG Velo Studio closes at 6:00 pm and the plan is for the ride to start promptly at 6:10 pm (and should end around 8:00), so come a few minutes early to get ready to ride. Lights should not be required but might come in handy late in the ride until sunset extends past 8:00.

Save time by signing NEMBA’s Annual Ride Waiver ahead of time – Sign once and it is good for all NEMBA rides in 2019. https://waiver.smartwaiver.com/w/5925c20b85636/kiosk/

What to bring:
* Mountain Bike in good working order.
* Spare tube and/or tubeless plugs to fix a flat if necessary.
* Water – Bottle or hydration pack (limited bottled drinking water will be available for filling)
* Food – Some riders may need nutrition on a fast-paced 2-hour ride.
* Helmet

Please do not arrive with the expectation of getting mechanical issues looked at. STBG will be busy with service appointments and other scheduled customers until closing time. If availability allows we’ll see what can be done but the ride must start on time. A self service tool and air station are coming soon.

Parking:
There are 6 marked spots available directly in front of the STBG Velo Studio. All others please park in the playground lot on Cemetery Lane directly across the street (1 minute ride away).

NOTE: Changes to the ride, including cancellations, will be posted to the Facebook event. Please check before riding. Falling rain cancels.
