As customers know, I closed the Velo Studio last Saturday to ride with U.S. National Cyclocross Champion Jeremy Powers and the JAM Fund Cycling Team during the sixth annual JAM Fund Grand Fundo. A challenging one-day bike ride through the scenic Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts, the event benefits the JAM Fund, an organization created in 2003 to help young, motivated cyclists achieve success both on and off the bike.
With over 6,000 feet of climbing over 67 miles, the organizers certainly got the “challenging” description right. It was also a great opportunity to connect with riders from all over the region including Jeremy and U23 Cyclocross National Champion, Ellen Noble.
Finishing the ride, I received the best reward – seeing my kids! While I rode, my wife drove down to Connecticut to retrieve our children from overnight camp, where they had been for the past two weeks.
