Donating to Triangle Bikeworks

Thanks to all our customers for donating your new and gently bicycle clothing and gear – and giving us a reason to drive down to Raleigh, North Carolina.

With your help, we collected over 250 items including over 100 short sleeve jerseys, 30 long sleeve jerseys, jackets and rain vests, 50 bib shorts, liners and mountain bike shorts, and various shoes, socks, gloves, buffs, backpacks, and more.

All of the items will be provided free to participants in programs organized by Triangle Bikeworks, a youth empowerment non-profit offering experiential learning opportunities and social-emotional support while using the bicycle as a means of seeing the world in a new and unique way to youth who are Black, Latine, Indigenous, and People Of Color to overcome challenges, achieve audacious goals, and discover their true selves.

While in North Carolina, we had the pleasure of meeting with Program Manager Itza Salazar, and Fernando Sanchez, AmeriCorps Afterschool Corps VISTA. Each shared their experiences both as members of Triangle Bikeworks’ “Dream Staff” and past participants.

Established in 2010, Triangle Bikeworks several programs at no cost to their participants to increase ridership with youth of color, including a fully supported, journey-based, educational outdoor experience culminating in a 2-week long, 700-mile summer cycling tour based on culturally significant and historic routes. In 2021, they launched Triangle Youth Mountain Bike Racing, better known as the TYMBR Wolves, a composite team of the North Carolina Interscholastic Cycling League (NCICL), part of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA). This summer they are offering “Bikes & Barnyards” a one-week summer camp program that raises money for future programs.

Stay tuned as we are planning future gear drives in support of Triangle Bikeworks!
