At New England Youth Cycling (NEYC)’s Coaches Retreat, we had the opportunity to connect with coaches, as well as Executive Director, Kelly Catale, to learn why they coach youth mountain bike racing. Reflecting on the weekend, we share some of our takeaways from the coaching session, as well as time spent on the trails Highland, a lift service mountain bike park.
We also return to the topic of 32″ wheels – this time as seen on bikes from Scott and Trek at Soldier Hollow World Cup – and discuss how gatekeeping activities such as complicating simple things, like how to clean your bike, can prevent new people from taking up cycling.
