Liability Statement for Bike Service and Sales

At Steve the Bike Guy (“we,” “us,” “our,” “STBG”), we take pride in providing quality bicycle service, repairs, and products. This Liability Statement explains the limits of our responsibility when working on or selling bicycles and accessories.
General Acknowledgment
Cycling involves inherent risks. You acknowledge that it is your responsibility to:
- Ride safely and within your skill level
- Wear appropriate protective gear
- Maintain your bicycle between service appointments
- Inspect your bicycle before every ride
Service & Repairs
We stand behind our workmanship and aim to complete all service to professional standards. However:
- We are not responsible for damage or failures caused by normal wear and tear, misuse, improper storage, accidents, or modifications made after service.
- You are responsible for providing accurate information about your bicycle and any known issues.
- Any recommended repairs that you decline may affect your bicycle’s performance or safety. We are not liable for issues resulting from declined or incomplete repairs.
- Parts installed or adjusted by us may require periodic tuning or re-adjustment, which is not included unless stated otherwise.
Used Bikes, Older Bikes, and Customer-Supplied Parts
Service on older bicycles, heavily worn parts, or customer-supplied components may carry additional risks.
- We reserve the right to refuse to service a bike or use customer-supplied componenets.
- We are not responsible for the failure of any part that is old, worn, or provided by the customer.
- If a part breaks during normal service due to age, corrosion, or prior damage, we are not liable for replacement costs.
Product Sales
All products are covered by any applicable manufacturer warranties, which vary by brand. We do not provide additional warranties beyond the manufacturer’s coverage.
We are not liable for:
- Damage resulting from improper installation performed outside our shop
- Misuse or modification of products
- Normal wear and tear
Test Rides & Pickup
When picking up your bicycle or taking it for a test ride:
- You acknowledge that you are responsible for verifying that the bicycle suits your needs and feels safe to operate.
- Once the bicycle leaves the shop, you are responsible for its condition, maintenance, and safe use.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Massachusetts law, Steve the Bike Guy is not liable for:
- Injuries or accidents resulting from cycling, including those related to equipment failure
- Damage to personal property
- Loss of use, incidental damages, or consequential damages
Your sole remedy for issues with service or products is limited to the value of the service performed or the product purchased.
Customer Agreement
By purchasing products or authorizing service, you acknowledge that:
- You have read and understand this Liability Statement
- You accept the risks associated with cycling
- You agree to hold Steve the Bike Guy harmless for issues outside of our direct control
