What could be better than a beautiful day off spent riding bikes with family and friends on the Cape? That was the idea when we signed up for the Coonamessett Farm Eco Cross in Falmouth on Veterans Day. Turns out we got all of it right except for the weather – it was wet, it was windy, it was muddy!

One challenge was keeping everyone as warm and dry as we could before each race. On the course, the mud was thick and deep, (similar in texture to cake batter) forcing riders to carry or push bikes through several long sections.

While the weather may not have cooperated, friends and family, deep mud, and acceptance of the insanity of today’s activities, made for a perfect day of racing.
