In “New Bikes – Ridden and Rated” the writers at Cycling Plus gave high praise to the Focus Izalco Max 5.0 – the first in line of the German ultra-light racer range used by the AG2R Pro-Tour team, the Izalco Max represents one of the lightest production frames available. The frame and the fork together weigh in around 2.3 pounds!
On Bike Radar writers also proclaimed “We really can’t find much to fault with the Max 5.0. A phenomenal lightweight frame, excellent components, and a rich riding experience make this as good as any race rig we’ve tried.” While the Max 5.0 isn’t available in the United States, the Cayo 4.0 measures up favorably to it’s sibling.
For those looking to balance price and performance, there is the Cayo 7.0 from Focus, which Cycling Plus describes as “a hell of a lot of bike for your money.” With the “best combination of performance, comfort and value,” the Focus Cayo 7.0 was declared the winner of Cycling Plus’ road review.
But the praise for Focus didn’t stop there! In “Fighting Dirty,” the writers rode and reviewed cyclocross bikes including the Mares CX 2.0 which they described as “innovative and very fast, the Mares CX is a step ahead of the game.”
