Seattle is home to the Space Needle, Starbucks, the Seahawks, and some of the bicycle shops I had read about, and been inspired by, when making plans for the Velo Studio. While visiting the city this weekend, my family and I spent time take a tour of, and meeting the people working, at some of my favorites.
Velo Bike Shop
Located in downtown Seattle, we were able to walk to the Velo Bike Shop from our hotel. Established in 1968, the Bike Shop moved to it’s current location in February. Thanks to Valerie for taking time to chat with us during our visit!
Cascade Bicycle Studio
A quick ride on an UberX brought us to Cascade Bicycle Studio on North Canal Street. I enjoyed talking to service technician, Jason, about the Studio’s services and brands carried which include Seven, Parlee and BMC.
Herriott Sports Performance (HSP)
HSP’s positions itself as a “premier strength and conditioning training center and bicycle pro shop” and it shows at it’s location Seattle’s Queen Anne neighborhood. The largest of the shops we visited, the walls of HSP’s shop and training center are lined with signed jerseys from their award-winning clients.
The Bicycle Repair Shop
Serving Seattle’s bicycle commuters, the Bicycle Repair Shop does not sell new bikes, but instead is focused on repairs and rentals.
Thank you to Ian from Recycled Cycles for the last minute offer via Twitter to get me a cyclocross bike to ride over the weekend (more on that in a future post). On the last day of our trip we made it to “Seattle’s Used Bike Shop” in Freemont while visiting the headquarters of Brooks Running.
